Quinton Walker

Plays the bass guitar.  Also plays the electric guitar.

Coen Boy Is One of the Harrigans
QuintonQuinton is the cousin from Coen.  Mild mannered and softly spoken, Quinton clearly has his place amongst a bunchful of lively Harrigans.

He went to boarding school at Peace Lutheran College in Cairns where "he liked school and played a lot of football".  There in his second year, he met Dylan and shared a room with him.

Quinton says he had always been extremely interested in music since he was a little kid.  In Coen, he used to borrow a guitar from some of the old people and even though he didn't know how to play, he would "bang and pluck" away at it.  Meeting Dylan at school it seems was fate.  From then, Dylan taught him how to play chords and they spent endless sessions on the guitar.

QuintonAfter school he then decided to go to Cooktown.  At the time, all of the Harrigan boys were away from Cooktown (Dylan went on to Mossman) except for the youngest, Vincent.  They became really good friends and Vincent took over and shared everything he knew about music with Quinton.

When the other boys came back, they regrouped Black Image.  When the boys were having a jam session, Vincent would sing out for Quinton to get on the guitar.  He's been playing with them ever since.  He's also played in gigs with members of Country Unknown.

To see him with the Harrigan boys, you would see his eyes light up when they joke around.  The boys treat him as another brother and Ronnie and Rosie consider and call Quinton one of their sons.

Quinton loves playing at gigs and especially loves the travelling.  He thinks every time they play is special, he says, "When one member is missing it doesn't feel the same".  He says he especially feels the connection the band members all have with each other when they play their music.

Coen Life
Quinton also comes from a family full of boys.  He has five brothers and one sister who live in Coen.  Quinton doesn't think Wujal Wujal and Coen people are very different.  He says they are the "same laughing and joking kind of mob".  He says the big difference is the landscape.  He says he often misses the dry land of Coen.

Musical Influences
QuintonQuinton loves the blues and likes to listen to Stevie Ray Vaughan and Eric Clapton.  He admires guitar players such as Mike Miller and Santana.

He also looks up to Ronnie, who often at their home would pick up the guitar and play some country music with Quinton.

Quinton's Other Job
Quinton works with the local council in Wujal Wujal doing outdoor jobs.
